2022-2023 Executive Board & Staff

Lauren Goldberg, President

Lauren is a graduating senior who began her journey with the Global Journal as a staff editor before becoming President. She is originally from Paris, France, but her primary residence is in Palo Alto, California. Taking advantage of the global opportunities offered at Northeastern University, Lauren has embarked on two international learning experiences as an undergraduate student. She studied at The Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) in the Spring 2021 semester, then traveled to Italy for a Dialogue of Civilization titled Discovering the Eternal City – Power, Culture and Social Justice in Rome and Beyond. After graduation, Lauren will be attending Columbia University, continuing her studies of International Affairs.

Scout Estrazulas-Gullick, Editor in Chief

Scout is the Editor in Chief of the Global Journal though began as a staff editor freshman year. Now a graduating senior, studying Environmental Studies and English, Scout is wrapping up her time at Northeastern and at the Global Journal. Apart from her studies at Northeastern, Scout studied Sustainability, Biodiversity, and Environmental Policy in Monteverde, Costa Rica and co-oped in New York City last semester, where she will return postgrad. Scout is originally from Miami, Florida but attended middle and high school in Barcelona, Spain. A proud first generation, third culture kid, Scout comes from a Chinese, Uruguayan, and English background.

Emma Goldberg, PR/Engagement Chair

Emma is a fourth-year Economics and Environmental Studies student at Northeastern. During her time at Northeastern she took part in a year-long study abroad program at the London School of Economics and also engaged in a Global Co-op in Paris as an Operations Associate at Techstars Sustainability Paris Accelerator. She will be attending Imperial College of London for a Master’s in Climate Change, Management, and Finance after her graduation from Northeastern. During her free time, Emma loves to play volleyball, read, and spend time with friends.

Arielle Lee, Outreach Coordinator

Arielle is the Outreach Coordinator of the Global Journal, though she began her work as an editor. She is a fourth-year Environmental Studies and International Affairs major with minors in Political Science and Urban Studies, and has a passion for climate justice. Arielle is from Lexington, MA, but called Hong Kong home for three years. Fun fact - she has been to over 20 countries!

Allison Tarbotton, Designer

Allison is a first-year student who joined the Global Journal team as a Junior Design Assistant and Staff Editor. She just returned from N.U.in Greece following a gap year during which she traveled to Ireland, South Africa, and Costa Rica, cultivating an appreciation for learning globally. As a Public Health major with a particular interest in health inequity, policy, and globalization, embarking on a global studies experience provided her a framework to solidify academic curiosities, and nurtured a strong interest in traveling. In her free time, Allison enjoys reading and playing tennis!

Belle Lim, Web Design Chair

Belle is the Web Design Chair for the Global Journal website and is currently a fourth year studying Computer Science with a focus on human-centered computing and a minor in Experience Design. Belle has lived in 10+ cities across the US from Amarillo, Texas to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is currently a proud resident of Flushing, Queens in New York City. Coming from a Malaysian-Chinese and Cantonese family, her favorite place to travel is south east Asia to enjoy the delicious food! In her free time, she enjoys cooking, bouldering, and hanging out with her friends!

Lois Hong, Treasurer

Lois Hong is a first year undergraduate student at Northeastern University studying Political Science and Business Administration and she spent her first semester at Mills College in the Bay Area, where she grew up. She is embarking on her first global experience in the summer as a Dialogue of Civilization student in London titled The Twenty-First Century City: London in a Global Society! She plans to concentrate in International Relations and Diplomacy and finance. She is excited to be a part of this wonderful community of global thinkers as the treasurer, working to plan various fundraisers and handle the budgeting.

Natalie Lehmann, Staff Editor

Natalie is an editor on the Journal and began this semester. Starting in NU.in Dublin, Natalie is a first year international affairs major. Before attending NU, Natalie lived in Granada, Spain for one year studying Spanish and taking culture class at the local university. Natalie is from San Antonio, Texas and the Czech Republic, trying to split her time between both homes and Boston, she refers to herself as Cze-xi-can (she has family from Mexico as well).

Ashley Mullin, Staff Editor

Ashley is a staff editor for the Global Journal, joining the team in the spring of her freshman year. Studying Political Science, Ashley’s experience studying abroad in Berlin, Germany as an NUin admit inspired her to get involved on staff. She has had experience with editing during her high school career, having held an editor position in student-run publication Reality Check on campus. In her coming years at Northeastern, she plans on spending more time abroad, both in Co-Ops and Dialogues of Civilization.

Sophia Naumovski, Staff Editor

Sophia is a staff editor for the Global Journal and is excited to continue her second semester working with the magazine. She is a second year student, studying environmental studies and international affairs, along with minors in German and Global Fashion Studies. Outside of Northeastern, Sophia has studied abroad in London and is looking forward to participating in a climate science and policy dialogue in India and Nepal this upcoming summer. She is originally from New Jersey, though her family originally hails from North Macedonia, where she continues to visit family every other summer.
